Jeffreys Bay Surftrips recently bought Kelly Slaters personal signed Al Merrick surfboard to support the Supertubes Surfing Foundation.
Eight time world surfing champion Kelly Slater ,the Supertubes Surfing Foundation and Jeffreys Bay surftrips collaborated in a unique all-win deal in Jeffreys Bay recently that will assist in maintaining the ecological integrity of the legendary Supertubes surf spot.
The arrangement saw Slater present a signed Al Merrick surfboard from his personal quiver to the Jeffreys Bay Surftrips who in turn donated R10 000 (US $1 450) to the Supertubes Surfing Foundation, the organisation dedicated to preserve the beach and dunes at the internationally renowned surfing location.
The Supertubes Surfing Foundation is a non profit (Section 21 Company) organisation dedicated to the preservation of the dunes and beaches of Jeffrey's Bay. It's been operational since 1999 and initiated by the local surf clubs, J bay Boardriders and JBU.
