From Jbaysurfcam.com , Jeffrey's Bay 12/01/2010 - There is not much time left before the JBU selectors get together to draw up the final list of invited surfers for the XCEL PRO Showdown At Supertubes MAY 2010. There will be some surfers from last year, as well as a few new faces, depending on who has been making a name at Supers since the last event.
Coincidentally, there is a great-looking swell approaching Jeffrey's Bay. The charts are looking really good, there are definitely going to be waves, and those surfers who are in the mix to be invited into the event have got a last chance to prove themselves. The crew on the short-list will all be dueling it out for one of the coveted spots into the event.
The winner of the Xcel Pro Showdown At Supers will win an entry into the Von Zipper Trials for the Billabong Pro World Tour event set to run at Supertubes in late July, an Xcel Infiniti Drylock 4/3 with built-in hood and a pair of Infiniti Booties with a combined value of R5000, a Nixon Watch valued at R5000, as well as R5000 cash.
"I expect the locals to go all out over this next swell," said Xcel's Koffie Jacobs. "It's a difficult event to get into with limited slots, so you have to really impress to get in. We should see some hot warm-up action this weekend."
The final list of invited surfers will be announced next week, along with the event format. The XCEL PRO has a live portal on the Zigzag Magazine website Xcel Zag where you can find out exactly what's happening with the event, the surfers, the waves and the forecasts.
There is also an Xcel Wetsuits South Africa Facebook Fan Page that will be running updates and information up-to and during the event. Join the Fan Page here Xcel FB.
