J-BAY SURFTRIPS
J-Bay Surftrips is a unique incentive in the Jeffreys Bay and surrounds, organising surf trips, safari’s, sightseeing tours and many other exciting stuff for those serious about the sport, surfing. The obvious questions would be:
“What and who are J-Bay Surftrips, what do they do, how can I become part, is it safe and reliable, would I get value for money?”
J-Bay Surftrips was born as an answer to the great demand for a structured and organised way to focus on the needs of people foreign to South Africa, its people and ways and of course, superior waves. Tourism has grown fast & furious the last few years, especially in the Eastern Cape and surfing as sport, has taken the world by storm, also in Jeffreys Bay.
This quaint, laidback little town not only hosts one of the worlds most renown surf-breaks, Supertubes but also has the widest available wave selection for every need and capability, as well as offering the most consistent waves to be found anywhere. Obviously J-Bay started to attract more and more foreign surfers, who need to sleep, eat, find the best surf spots, best restaurants, experience the amazing wildlife S.A. has to offer on those flat days etc.
Who we are?
About 10 years ago (2005) the founder of J-Bay Surftrips, Robin van der Linde, came on a surf safari to Jeffreys Bay. It was immediately obvious how this little town was booming, especially how the balance between localism and authenticity in tourism was maintained. This was obviously the perfect place for an unforgettable surfing holiday! But, although J-Bay holds great interest for surfers from the world over, some even dream of coming here while still at school, nothing substantial was offered them!!!
Robin decided to make his permanent home Jeffreys Bay. Over some time he connected with legends and big names in the local surfing industry, amongst them Etienne Venter. Etienne is the owner of the “Jeffreys Bay Surf School”, selector of the National EP Springbok Surf Team and contest director for the S.A. Junior Series. If anyone knows anything about surfing J-Bay, it would be Etienne, well known and respected by all in Jeffreys Bay.
The balanced mix of Robin’s organisational skills with Etienne’s surf experience and intimate knowledge of the area, people and waves, presented the perfect foundation for J-Bay Surftrips to be born. This will open new horizons for all those who’s dream it was to visit and surf Jeffreys Bay’s superior waves, or receive the very best surfing instructions available, whether novice, intermediate or experienced surfer, or just to soak in the J-Bay vibe…
